HAPPY 15th BIRTHDAY ASDA

Waterfields helped ASDA celebrate the 15th anniversary since the opening of their store in Leigh by creating and ENORMOUS celebration cake. The two tier sponge cake at over 5ft by 6ft was the largest cake Waterfields have ever made and kept our cake decorator Jayne and her team busy for days.
JAYNE's SUCCESS AT
BAKING INDUSTRY 'OSCARS'
Congratulations to Jayne McWalters, our talented cake decorator who was a finalist in the national Baking Industry Award in the category of .......
Celebration Cake Maker of the Year 2009
The competition brief was to design a cake that reflected the Glamour of the 1920's.
Jayne set about researching the history of the period and then used her considerable artistic skills to design and create a fantastic 2 tier cake which details many aspects
of that era.

The photo shows Jayne being presented with her certificate by comedian Ronnie Corbett, during a gala awards ceremony attended by some 800 industry guests.
The Baking Industry Awards have been running for 22 years and grow in both popularity and stature every year. The awards night is the premier celebratory and networking evening for the UK bakery sector.
Jayne is responsible for leading a team of three and has day to day involvement in producing handmade celebration cakes to order, for 45 Waterfields shops, our own internet cake site, an exclusive supermarket chain and numerous wholesale customers.
Each member of her staff, including Jayne, have over 20 years experience in the art of cake decorating and never compromise on creativity or quality with any of the high volume of cakes they produce.

2007 British Sandwich Awards held in London.
This national award seeks to recognise individual bakery shops in the UK that are leading the way in retailing sandwiches.
The product range in the Select shop concentrates on providing a varied selection of sandwiches, filled rolls, soups and savouries geared towards the breakfast and lunchtime trade for customers
to 'eat on the go'.
A variety of cold drinks and Fair Trade Coffee, freshly brewed on the premses is also on sale together with a range of cakes and
individual confectionery lines. The produce range is constantly under review so customers never get bored and there's always something new to try.
NEW SANDWICH OF THE YEAR
WINNER
Waterfields Creamy Lancashire Cheese & Real Ale Chutney served on Fruit Bread.
Waterfields successfully competed against entries from Marks and Spencer and Tesco in this category.
We have found, over many years experience that customers like good honest food and this was our inspiration when creating this award winning sandwich.
Bread forms the major part of a sandwich and we have 80+ years of craft skills in making quality breads. Our goal is to achieve a full flavour, good crust and firm slice, matching the freshest bread with
the right filling to produce a tasty combination of flavours.
The idea of developing a special fruit bread as a sandwich carrier for our award winning sandwich, came from years ago when fruit cake was traditionally served with cheese.
Waterfields recipe fruit bread is packed with top quality sultanas, rich diced mixed peel and succulent currants. The distinctive creamy Lancashire cheese is a regional product made in central Lancashire and the chutney is heavily fruited and contains real ale.
Recognition from a third party gives our sandwiches extra
credibility and also give us something to shout about.
